The Park since the very beggining (back in the 40's) always had a tight surveilance and a lower possesion limit on fishs. As a result that now in the 2000's we can offer fishermen a very great quality of fishing at a very accessible area. Located 18 miles off Trans-Canada Hwy 117, the bush road is in great condition beeing maintain by the logging co., the park, and Deer Horn Lodge. Of course to have this quality of fishing that accessible as a cost and that's why the park charge a certain fee per person (details on our rates page) to fish in that park. The main lake is the Cabonga reservoir, a body of water of 2800 miles of shore line (37 natural lakes connecting now one to another) it was first built as a water reserve for a logging company to float the logs on the Gatineau river. With the years the reservoir earned an excellent reputation as an angler's paradise. Surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery, angler's are please to fish all kind of structures in channels, river beds, small bays, big water as well as small connected lakes where the big northern pikes like to hide. Excellent size walleye (avg. 3 lbs.), northern pike (avg.6 lbs.), lake trout (10 lbs) and sturgeon are caught at any time of the season. Chances for trophy fishs are very good. Cabonga Reservoir is consider by our fishing and game departement, many fishing magazines and websites as one of America's top 20 walleye and Northern Pike water. We also fish Barriere Lake well known because it produced in 1983 the Canadian walleye record with a walleye of 19 lbs.
