What you need to know

 

 

Our lodge is located 18 miles off Trans-Canada hwy 117, the 18 miles of bush road is in very good shape beeing maintain by 3 parties (logging company,Deer Horn Lodge and the Park). Of course to have this quality of fishing that accessible as a cost, the park charge $14.50 per day or $82.50 per week per person to fish in it.

All of our cottages are rated 3 and 4 stars (maximum rating is 4 stars) by our Quebec tourisme departement, fully equiped for cooking, electricity 24 hours, hot shower in every cottages. What you need to bring is your personal linen and towels the rest is there.

Plenty of docking spaces available at no charge if you bring your own boat, we also lauch your boat for you at no charge. We also can fill your big boat of gas right at the main dock for your convinience. Two fish houses on site as well as freezers to store your fish.

 

G.S.T. tax

Trip Cancellation

Deer horn Lodge do not refund any deposit on cancellation, customers should get their own travel insurance.

Terms & payement

If the trip has not been completly paid for before your departure and you do not intend to settle the bill with cash, we accept visa, mastercard and travellers checks.

 

Permits and quotas

Hunters & anglers must purchase provincial licences and park permits, available at the lodge office. Individuals who have in their possession, other than in their place of permanent residence, fish caught while sportfishing, must keep them in condition enabling determination of the species (the whole skin on the filets). Lengt limit apply on walleye, whole fish as to be over 12 inches, the filet as to be over 8 inches. Possession limit per person are 6 walleyes, 6 northern pike, 2 lake trout, 50 yellow perch and 1 lake sturgeon. No limits on whitefishs, mulets and carps.

 

Papers

For native-born or naturalized US citizens, a birth certificate, voter registration card , driver licence or social security card provides sufficent proof of citizenship when crossing the border. Check the dates of your health insurance documents, id’s and credit cards. You must carry a valid driver’s licence and car registration at all times when driving in Canada. Anyone driving in Canada must have minimum liability insurance coverage of $50,000.00

 

Driving

Speed limits are posted in kilometers per hour, normaly 50 km/h is 30 mp/h, 90 km/h is 55 mp/h and 100 km/h is 62 mp/h. Radar detectors are strickly prohibed and fines can go up to $5000.00 Right red turn are now allowed  in Quebec except the city of Montreal.

* Yozuri suspending black & brown color (Pike & walleye)

* Rapala Husky Jerk silver & blue, silver & green (Pike & walleye)

* Storm thunderstick silver & green fluorescent (Pike & walleye)

* Storm TinFin perch color (Pike & walleye)

* Jigs 1/4, 3/8, or 1/2 oz Colors : Green fluorescent, orange fluorescent, yellow, white are the most productive

   Trolling lures :

* Worm harnesses bright colors (Walleye)

* Dixie spinners bright colors (Walleye)

* Erie Derie (Pike & walleye)

  Casting Lures :

Red & white dardevell (Pike)

Johnson silver minnow (Pike)

Toronto wobler (pike)

Most of any casting lures bright colors will catch Pike

Remember that on Cabonga Reservoir there is lots of big fish and i recommend at least 12 lbs( i fish with 17 lbs test myself) test fishing ligne and medium action rod. Light tackle are fun but might loose the big one.

Buy films, batteries, flash bubbles etc. Pack binoculars and sporting scope. List the serial number of your valued items for insurance records and if applicable customs registration.

Directions

Coming trough Ottawa from 1000 islands.

 

From 416 north take exit for 417 east, on 417 watch for Nicholas street exit (about 7 miles from 416) follow Nicholas street (wich is a long ramp leading to rideau street) to the first traffic light turn right on Laurier street.

On Laurier street at 5th light turn left on King Edward blvd. Proceed King Edward all the way to route 5 ( Route 5 become King Edward in Ontario). Route 5 will take you right up to 105. At the end of 105 turn left on Route 117 North, proceed 117 until you see Km signpost 378 in the park turn right on Rd 29.

 

Coming trough Montreal via I-87.

Interstate 87 become Route 15 in Canada, follow route 15 north till the end, it will become 117. Proceed 117 until you see Km signpost 378 in the park turn right on Rd 29. Be carefull in Montreal since route 15 and route 40 are the same for a bit.
