The Ottawa River

Not only you can fish by boat on the Cabonga Reservoir or the Barriere Lake it's also possible to fish from shore the magnificent Ottawa River. You will find at 10 minutes drive from the camp unbeleivables rapids where you can fish the Northern Pikes, Walleyes and Sturgeons. A nice path along the river for an easy acces to the fishing spots.

The Ottawa River is over 1,130 kilometres long, stretching from the headwaters west of the Cabonga reservoir, to where it joins the St. Lawrence. The Ottawa River basin has a total area of 146,300 square kilometres, 65 per cent lying in Quebec and the remaining 35 per cent in Ontario.

Today the Ottawa River is home to 30 storage reservoirs with more than 14 billion cubic metres capacity. The reservoirs have a major role to play in effecting the waterways and flooding on the territory. In spring, they serve as holding areas to limit flooding along the river routes. As well, they maintain a steady supply of water to prevent fluctuations in the hydro electric supply.
